What can I appeal?

According to the Act on Foreigners, decisions of the Directorate of Immigration to deny an application for international protection, residence permit or a visa, can be appealed to the Appeals Board. Decisions of the Directorate to dismiss an application for international protection on the basis of the Dublin Regulation can also be appealed. The Directorate’s decisions on denial of entry and expulsion can also be appealed to the Board but, specific aspects related to the implementation of a decision to deny entry or expel cannot be appealed.

In the case of an unduly long processing time by the Directorate, an appeal can be filed with the Board against the non-decision.
